Learn the fundamentals of Musical Improv with one of the best musical Improvisers of all time: Derek Miller of Baby Wants Candy and Opening Night, The Improvised Musical! Over the weekend, you’ll learn how to improvise a musical as an ensemble in a supportive and fun environment, everything from group numbers to duets. Learn how to do improvise musical numbers with some helpful lessons in narrative improv along the way!

About Derek Miller: 

Derek Miller is a Chicago-bred improviser, actor and screenwriter who has been teaching Improv for nearly twenty years.  His improv show "Opening Night: The Improvised Musical!" ran for twenty years delivering over 1000 performances. He served as a consulting writer on three series and acted as writer/performer for NBC’s prime-time sketch show. His pilot, “Mid To Late” starring Eliza Coupe and Ryan Hansen was produced in 2016. Behind the camera, Derek cut his teeth directing casting sessions for thousands of commercials. He became an on-set improv consultant working under A-list directors and then segued into directing branded content. He helmed campaigns for EA Games, Curve, and PS4 as well as Uproxx's first animated series. Derek has taught, directed and coached thousands of actors. From conceptualizing to final delivery, he has had the unique privilege of utilizing improvisation in every part of the creative process.
