CLASS DESCRIPTION: Focus on the "game of the scene" and what makes great improv scenes tick in our second level. Suitable for students who have taken Intro to Improv with MOB or students with some Improv Training, seeking a refresher course that is more advanced than Improv: Basics. Over the course, students will be taught to identify the “game” of the scene, exploring/mining the scene, supporting the “game” using patterns and will be introduced to second beats as we start to learn about “the Harold”. All students shall receive a MOB Student Card which will grant them free admission to Thursday-Night MOB shows at Wigwam for the duration of the course. Discover and practice what makes great long-form Improv scenes in a fun and supportive environment.

Pay Half-Now/ Half-Later: Pay for only half of the course now. The remainder of the payment is due 4 weeks into class.
** Students will receive a 'Student Card' which will grant free admission to all MOB shows for the duration of the course.
** We will refund tuition in full up until a week before class due to limited space.
** Pay half of the tuition now to enrol, and the rest 4 weeks into the course. Students are responsible for 2nd half of the payment regardless of participation in the course.
** We are committed to maintaining personal safety in the MOB classroom and at shows. Enrolled students are expected to sign and adhere to our Code of Conduct. We reserve the right to drop students from the course who violate our Code of Conduct without a refund.
COURSE INSTRUCTOR: Erin McGathy
Erin McGathy has been teaching Improv since 2008. She began performing at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Los Angeles and the iO West Theatre in 2006. Whilst in LA, she performed and wrote on several UCB Sketch Shows, as well as The Gentleman’s Club with Bob Odenkirk for the Second City, was on UCB and IO West Harold and repertory teams, and also co-founded the lauded Improvised Tennessee Williams’ team, The Kind Strangers. Erin has performed and taught across the states and Europe, including at the Second City in Chicago, Boom Chicago, the UCB Theatre in NY, iO Chicago, Austin City Limits, SF Sketch Fest and SXSW, and the 2016-2018 Dublin and Edinburgh Fringes. Her 2018 Improvised Play, Witches and Dogs, (directed by Craig Cackowski) was an audience favourite at The Dublin Fringe Festival. TV credits include Community, Drunk History, Party Legends and HarmonQuest for Seeso. She is a current ensemble member of Dreamgun Film Reads and the Artistic Director of MOB Theatre Dublin and can be seen in the 2023 film, Apocalypse Clown and SOULM8TE from Universal Pictures in 2025.
