Ever felt lost in a scene?  Ever panic so hard you’re almost tempted to pull an imaginary gun a la Michael Scott in the US Office? Of course, you have. In this Intermediate Workshop, Chicago improv vet, Derek Miller will guide improvisers through the tried and true methods of starting scenes with a clear point of view and how to play effortlessly from a foundation of interesting relationships between characters. After this 3 hour workshop, we guarantee you’ll leave a more confident and present improviser.

About Derek Miller: 

Derek Miller has been hustling in the entertainment community for nearly twenty years - starring in five sit-coms, appearing in over eighty commercials and teaching and performing comedy at iO West, the Second City and for major corporations. His improv show "Opening Night: The Improvised Musical!" ran for twenty years delivering over 1000 performances. He served as a consulting writer on three series and acted as writer/performer for NBC’s prime-time sketch show. His pilot, “Mid To Late” starring Eliza Coupe and Ryan Hansen was produced in 2016. Behind the camera, Derek cut his teeth directing casting sessions for thousands of commercials. He became an on-set improv consultant working under A-list directors and then segued into directing branded content. He helmed campaigns for EA Games, Curve, and PS4 as well as Uproxx's first animated series. Derek has taught, directed and coached thousands of actors. From conceptualizing to final delivery, he has had the unique privilege of utilizing improvisation in every part of the creative process.
