It’s time to use all the skills you learned in our first musical workshop to start improvising MUSICALS! This workshop is a continuation of the first Musical Workshop. You'll learn how to use characters and emotions to turn songs into stories.
Simple narrative devices will be explored as well as strong initiations for characters and how to create a narrative organically through discovery. Most importantly, we're going to have the craic singing.

Musical Improv Team at MOB! Take the workshop if you want to be on our Musical Improv Team in the future OR just for fun.
Song structure will be at the forefront of building confidence to bring solos duets and group numbers to a fully improvised Musical.

About Derek Miller:
Derek Miller is a Chicago-bred improviser, actor and screenwriter who has been teaching Improv for nearly twenty years. His improv show "Opening Night: The Improvised Musical!" ran for twenty years delivering over 1000 performances. He served as a consulting writer on three series and acted as writer/performer for NBC’s prime-time sketch show. His pilot, “Mid To Late” starring Eliza Coupe and Ryan Hansen was produced in 2016. Behind the camera, Derek cut his teeth directing casting sessions for thousands of commercials. He became an on-set improv consultant working under A-list directors and then segued into directing branded content. He helmed campaigns for EA Games, Curve, and PS4 as well as Uproxx's first animated series. Derek has taught, directed and coached thousands of actors. From conceptualizing to final delivery, he has had the unique privilege of utilizing improvisation in every part of the creative process.
